ka-chunk

In case you missed it, check out this awesome clip from AMC’s Better Call Saul photocopier sales interview.  Plucked from early in Season 4, this superbly done scene offers up many lessons from a job interview Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) takes with a photocopier company.  It looks like it may go one way, but ends up taking an interesting turn at the end.  Trust me, it is an instant classic — click below.

Attention all salespeople, lawyers and job seekers looking for extra motivation

So many great lines in this clip.  By the end your spirit animal will be a gila monster and you will be believing that a copier isn’t just a copier, but the beating heart of a healthy, growing business. Ka-chunk, ka-chunk, ka-chunk….full disclosure, I stood up from my couch and applauded when we finished.

Key sales lessons I found from the Neff Copiers sales interview:
  • The best salespeople are not feature pushers — they are business problem solvers
  • Telling a great, compelling story is not enough.  You have to make a connection to make it stick.
  • Good sales professionals know that a “maybe” is really a “no” in disguise.
  • Sometimes getting to “yes” doesn’t mean “happy ever after.”  A bad fit “yes” can be worse than a “no”.

And also don’t miss out on one final key takeaway:  time kills all deals.

By the way, if you liked this post, you should definitely check out how we are making the pitch for companies to take April 15 and make Tax Day “Relax Day” from this point forward for their employees.

And please consider becoming a Friend of Dave while you are at it!!!
